bio
Cara Reese is a seasoned coach, dedicated administrator, and lifelong student of the game who has spent over 20 years giving back to the sport of field hockey. She brings a wealth of experience at all levels of play—from collegiate head coach to club leader—combining competitive excellence with a deep commitment to player development.
Cara began her collegiate coaching career at Vassar College, where she served as an assistant coach from 2006–2008 before taking over as head coach from 2009–2012. She then moved on to Wheaton College, leading the program as head coach from 2013–2019. Known for her steady leadership and strong field hockey IQ, Cara has guided countless athletes through their collegiate journeys both on and off the field.
As a student-athlete, Cara played field hockey and lacrosse at Salve Regina University from 2002–2006, earning her degree in biology. Her experience as a two-sport athlete helped shape her understanding of team dynamics, hard work, and the student-athlete balance—values she continues to pass on to her players today.
Cara lives in Cumberland, Rhode Island, with her husband Kenny and their two children, James and Evelyn. Her daughter Ev recently began her own club field hockey journey, making Cara’s work with young players even more personal and meaningful.
In addition to coaching, Cara works as an elementary school secretary, bringing organization, empathy, and care to every aspect of her day-to-day life. She considers it a privilege to continue growing the sport she loves—whether she’s coaching in championship games or helping a young player master their first skill.
